Generic Tutorial: Loose Parts

Let's tighten up figures through easy fixes.

In this guide we will show you how to apply a "Special Glue" that will tighten loose joints. Note that there are many of these types of glues, for example: MPS Fix Loose Joints, Kiki Fix Loose Joints Solution, and many others, but for the purposes of this guide we will be using MPS Fix Loose Joints.

Pre-Fix Checklist

This tutorial will show you how to use the most effective fix for Loose Parts. Which is to use special glue made specifically for figures.

Repair Workflow: Using MPS Glue

Expand each stage for exact actions, timing, and stop signs.

1

Stage 1: Diagnose Where The Issue Is

(Above is an image of the figma Solid Snake from MG2. The torso ball joint was very loose to the point it dislodged.)

  • Isolate issue area.
  • In this case the issue area is the torso area where the ball joint is located.
  • The most important area for this guide is the socket where the ball joint will be going into
2

Stage 2: Spit Some Glue To It

After isolating what piece(s) are loose the next thing to do is glue it.

  • As mentioned before the socket is the most important spot in this guide.
  • The most optimal location to "glue" is the socket.
  • Apply the glue of your choice within the socket, if available.
  • ⚠Note: If the socket is NOT easily accessible without breaking the figure or its joints, apply glue over the joint. (View video tutorial for more)
3

Stage 3: Check and Clean Up

Now that you have applied the glue of your choice and reattached the figure back together again. Next is to ensure it worked.

  • While the glue is still not settled, it is good practice to move the joint in question.
  • In this case since we are fixing Solid Snake's ball joint torso, we will ensure that the entire socket is coated by twisting the torso.
4

Done!

...and that is it!

Other Options for Figure Glue

While in this tutorial we used the MPS Fix Loose Joint glue, this is not the only glue of this type. Luckily, there are multiple glues for you to use.

  • MPS Fix Loose Joints (Amazon)
  • Kiki Fix Loose Joints Solution (Amazon)
  • *!* Note that unfortunately MPS Fix Loose Joints is the ONLY glue we can vouch for. Simply because we own and use this glue specifically *!*

Using a Wet Paper Towel

Stuffing a wet paper towel piece into a socket to apply friction. Due to this added friction the pieces should now "stick" onto each other.

Cost: Free

Effectiveness: Somewhat

Best For: Slightly Loose Pieces

Using a Dot of Sticky Tack

Applying a well placed dot of sticky tack or sticky putty can go a long way. Best used for smaller pieces such as loose accessories, hand pieces, and other smaller parts on figures.
